No Such Thing

"'Welcome to the real world', she said to me
Condescendingly,
'Take a seat.
Take your life,
Plot it out in black and white.'
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens,
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve.

I'd love to tell you,
'Stay inside the lines,'
But something's better
On the other side.

I want to run through the halls of my high school.
I want to scream at the top of my lungs.
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world,
Just a lie that got to rise above.

So the good boys and girls take the so called right track,
Faded white hats;
Grabbing credits and
Maybe transfers.
They read all the books but they can't find the answers.
And all of our parents,
They're getting older.
I wonder if they've wished for anything better,
While in their memories,
Tiny tragedies.

I'd love to tell you,
'Stay inside the lines,'
But something's better
On the other side.

I want to run through the halls of my high school.
I want to scream at the top of my lungs.
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world,
Just a lie that got to rise above.

I am invincible,
I am invincible,
I am invincible,
As long as I'm alive.

I want to run through the halls of my high school.
I want to scream at the top of my lungs.
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world,
Just a lie that got to rise above.

I just can't wait 'til my 10 year reunion;
I'm gonna bust down the double doors.
And when I stand on these tables before you,
You will know what all this time was for"
~ "No Such Thing" John Mayer

That's me in a nut shell. I;m taking the bait and hoping that there is indeed "something better on the other side". Sure, it's risky, but I like what I do; I like singing, playing music, acting, all that stuff. I want to do it for the rest of my life.
I've been told you can't make a living off of pipe dreams. My answer is, "maybe not, but I can sure get a life out of making those dreams come true.
I see people all over who hate their jobs. They do what they have to to get by, and I guess that's fine for them, but as Earnest Hemingway once said "Why take a vacation when work is so much fun?"
So stay inside the lines; take your office job with your monthly pay cheques and Christmas bonuses, as for me, I'm gonna see what's on the other side.
